The Egyptian carrier will have an offer of 11,366 seats per week between Egypt and North America in 36 operations. In addition, the company has scheduled daily flights to New York (JFK) and four times a week to Washington – Dulles (IAD) both operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliner, in addition to a non-stop service to Toronto – Pearson (YYZ) with four weekly flights on Boeing 777-300ER.
EgyptAir’s decision to fly to Newark (EWR) is a strategic move, as it will have no competition in this segment. The airline also has a codeshare partnership with Star Alliance partner United Airlines, allowing customers to connect to multiple destinations from its extensive network in the Americas through its main East Coast hub.
In 2010, Continental Airlines scheduled nonstop service between Newark (EWR) and Cairo (CAI) with daily flights on Boeing 777-200ERs, the carrier scrapped its plans for this route due to public protests and decreased travel to Egypt.
