Aeroméxico takes delivery of its 20th Boeing 787 Dreamliner and its 50th 737 MAX

Aeroméxico took delivery of two new airplanes last week: it added its 50th Boeing 737 MAX and becomed the fourth largest operator of the manufacturer’s latest narrowbody aircraft family. In addition, it completed the delivery of its 20th 787 Dreamliner.

Aeroméxico takes delivery of its twentieth Boeing 787

On Thursday 30 March, the company’s 20th Boeing 787 arrived at Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX). It is the 787-9 with manufacturer’s serial number (MSN) 65102 and registration XA-DHN. It had taken off from Charleston International Airport (CHS), South Carolina, where the production facility for the type is located.

The aircraft will be added to Aeroméxico’s regular operations in the coming weeks. The 787s operate long-range flights between Mexico and South America, Asia and Europe. They are also used to cover high-density routes.

The airline is a long-standing customer of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner: it took delivery of the first aircraft in August 2013 and launched scheduled services in October 2013.

Half a hundred Boeing 737 MAXs

The airline’s latest Boeing 737 MAX 9 took off on Friday from King County-Boeing Field Airport (BFI), Washington, and arrived at Benito Juárez International Airport nearly five hours later. It is the 16th such aircraft for the company, which also operates 34 737 MAX 8s.

The aircraft, with manufacturer’s serial number (MSN) 43362, was registered as N867AM. The company must complete the necessary formalities with Mexican regulatory authorities before scheduling it on short- and medium-haul routes both domestically and in North and Central America.

Aeroméxico expects to end 2023 with a total of 55 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in operation.

Current fleet

As of the new additions, Aeroméxico now has a fleet of 110 operational aircraft: 5 Boeing 737-700, 35 Boeing 737-800, 34 Boeing 737 MAX 8, 16 Boeing 737 MAX 9, 8 Boeing 787-8 and 12 Boeing 787-9.

For its part, regional subsidiary Aeroméxico Connect operates 42 Embraer 190.
