Swissport secures contract with SKY and becomes the new market leader in ground handling services in Chile

Swissport has signed an agreement with Sky Airline to provide airport services and cargo handling at the 15 airports it operates in Chile, including its main base in Santiago.

The contract will start in April 2023 and will extend for five years, covering passenger assistance at check-in counters and boarding gates, aircraft ramp services, lost and found, and cargo handling.

Serving Sky, Chile’s first ultra-low-cost carrier, Swissport will add 35,000 annual flights, representing a 190% growth compared to the 19,000 flights it currently handles for its clients. As a result, the company highlighted, they become the new leader in the airport handling sector in Chile.

«We are thrilled to have secured this significant contract with Sky Airline, which will establish Swissport as the leading service provider in Chile», said Guillermo Alonso, Managing Director of Swissport in Mercosur.

«With our dedicated teams across Chile, we will provide Sky Airline with the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and reliability. We look forward to expanding our operations in this dynamic market», he added.

Swissport in Chile

Currently, Swissport has around 800 employees in Chile, serving bases in Arica, Calama, Copiapó, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas, and Santiago, which will now be joined by Iquique, Antofagasta, La Serena, Valdivia, Osorno, Puerto Montt, and Balmaceda.

In South America, the Swiss company has a presence in Argentina (9 airports), Brazil (16 airports), Ecuador (4 airports), Peru (8 airports), and Uruguay (2 airports).
