Global Crossing Airlines Group – known as GlobalX – obtained an amendment to its Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC) issued by Transport Canada. This FAOC update expands the number and type of aircraft GlobalX can operate as part of its offering of flights to Canada from the U.S., including operating on behalf of existing Canadian airlines.
Ed Wegel, president and CEO of GlobalX, said he is “extremely grateful for the support provided by Transport Canada during the process of obtaining the certificate. Canada will become an increasingly important market for us and we will continue to provide additional aircraft capacity to Canadian airlines. Adding the A321 to our FAOC will allow us to offer both larger capacity and freighter aircraft to our customers and airlines in the great north.”

GlobalX is a part 121 that primarily operates charter flights in the U.S., the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America. It currently has a fleet consisting of 11 aircraft, all Airbus A320 family aircraft. The airline’s sole A319 – N285GX – is currently in storage. Its six A320s are operational, while of its four A321s, two are in storage and two others -in passenger configuration- are in regular service. It became the first U.S. operator of the Airbus A321 P2F just over a month ago. The company’s second A321P2F is undergoing conversion work in Lake City, Florida.
