Avianca inaugurates flights to Boston and continues to grow in the U.S.

Avianca resumed flights between Bogota (BOG), Colombia, and Boston (BOS), Massachusetts, on March 27. The company will operate five weekly flights on A319 and A320 aircraft, offering 1,800 seats per week.

The inaugural service landed at 14:45 after a flight of 5 hours and 31 minutes and was operated on an Airbus A319 registered N723AV. The flight marked the return of Avianca’s operations between the two cities after a four-year absence. The company had flown between June 2017 and May 2019.

San Salvador (SAL), El Salvador, will also be another destination that will recover the U.S. city, which used to operate between August 2018 and May 2019.

Avianca increases its presence in the United States

According to information obtained through Cirium, the United States is Avianca Group’s largest international market, with up to 2,300 monthly flights to twelve U.S. cities from its bases in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador and Guatemala.

The company highlights that during 2022 it transported more than 2.6 million travelers to the North American country.

The company will have the following routes for the upcoming summer season:

  • Barranquilla (BAQ); Bucaramanga (BGA); Cali (CLO); Cartagena (CTG); Pereira (PEI); Santa Marta (SMR), Colombia: Miami (MIA).
  • Cartagena (CTG), Cali (CLO), Pereira (PEI), Colombia: New York (JFK).
  • Bogotá (BOG), Colombia: Boston (BOS), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO), San Juan (SJU) and Washington/Dulles (IAD).
  • Medellín (MDE), Colombia: Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Orlando (MCO).
  • Guayaquil (GYE) and Quito (UIO), Ecuador: New York (JFK).
  • San Salvador (SAL), El Salvador: Boston (BOS), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), Ontario (ONT), Orlando (MCO), San Francisco (SFO) and Washington/Dulles (IAD).
