This Wednesday (8) the first aircraft of T.M. Aerolineas S.A., which will operate under the Awesome Cargo trademark, was presented at its base at Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU), being the first cargo airline to be established there.
The aircraft in question is an Airbus A330-200, which previously operated for Alitalia under the registration EI-EJI until March 2021, when it was stored at Naples (NAP). The A330 made its delivery flight between Naples and AIFA with prior stopover at Halifax (YHZ) between February 6 and 7.
Initially, Awesome Cargo will operate with two Airbus A330-200 preighters with 50-ton capacity. The aircraft was not converted from passenger to pure freighter (P2F), only the seats have been removed from the passenger cabin (hence the name preighter).
Therefore, the aircraft will initially carry 34,110 kg in the lower deck and about 2,718 kg in bulk. In the future, it will be modified to a traditional freighter.
The company plans to launch operations in May, however, given the circumstances in Turkey and Syria due to the earthquake, the Mexican government, through the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), set up a collection center at AIFA to receive donations from citizens and send them via Awesome Cargo’s A330.

The first cargo airline at AIFA
Awesome Cargo received its concession last December 7 as the first cargo airline at AIFA, but previously operated as a global sales agent (GSA). The corporation was born with great expectations of growth and expansion in the medium term, both in the domestic and international markets, offering its services to different regions of the world.
In the domestic market, the company is associated with Viva Aerobus Cargo, where it is present in 22 domestic airports and in more than 20 airports abroad. They are also partners of Aeroreunion, Terminal Logistics and Mexpress Transportation.
In addition, they represent in Mexico airlines from China and Taiwan such as China Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Suparna Airlines and Yangtze River Airlines from their offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
The company highlighted the qualities of AIFA, which has a cargo capacity of more than 443,000 tons, 191,000 more than Mexico City International Airport (AICM). It also has 12 bonded warehouses and 14 long-stay aircraft positions.

Awesome has medium-term plans to turn AIFA into Mexico’s most important cargo hub with an initial fleet of five Airbus A330 freighters, with a projection of 10 in the long term.
