Costa Rica: SANSA Airlines increases flights to Nicaragua

SANSA Airlines is strengthening its operations in Central America as of March 6 by increasing service on the San José de Costa Rica (SJO) – Managua (MGA) route. Currently, the Nicaraguan capital is the company’s only international connection.

The Costa Rican airline will increase its operations to Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) from 4 to 5 flights per week and will offer 140 seats per week.

Flight Itinerary

  • San José de Costa Rica – Managua Flight RZ 1060 SJO 09:00 – MGA 10:15 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Managua – San José de Costa Rica Flight RZ 1061 MGA 11:00 – SJO 12:15 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The route will be operated in Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft with a capacity of 14 passengers and promotional fares are available from USD 260 each way.

In addition, SANSA Airlines offers domestic service in Costa Rica to Drake Bay (DRK), Golfito (GLF), La Fortuna (FON), Liberia – Guanacaste (LIR), Nosara (NOB), Puerto Jimenez (PJM), Puerto Limón (LIO), Quepos – Manuel Antonio (XQP), Tamarindo (TNO), Tambor (TMO) and Tortuguero (TTQ).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Costa Rica’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGA), 66,382 passengers and 842.7 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2019 between San José (SJO) and Managua (MGA).
