Copa Airlines is expanding its operations in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area with new nonstop service between Panama – Tocumen (PTY) and Baltimore (BWI) beginning June 28, 2023. With this new service, the Panamanian airline will offer fourteen destinations in the United States.
Currently, the company operates eighteen flights a week between Panama City (PTY) and Washington – Dulles (BWI) with 5,700 seats per week. Copa will be the only Latin American airline to offer nonstop service at Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) and to fly to two airports in the U.S. capital.

In this way, we remain firm in our objective to increase connectivity between the countries where we operate through Panama, and to contribute to the growth of tourism, investment, and economic and social development in our region,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
Flight Itinerary
- Panama/Tocumen – Baltimore Flight CM 708 PTY 09:07 – BWI 15:07 Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Baltimore – Panama/Tocumen Flight CM 709 BWI 16:22 – PTY 20:22 Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
The route will be operated in Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft with capacity between 160 and 154 passengers in two classes (16 Business Class/144 – 138 Economy). Promotional fares are available starting at USD 378 each way. This new service connects with the more than 65 destinations offered by the company through the “Hub of the Americas”.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Tocumen Airport statistics, 220,252 passengers were mobilized in 2022 between Panama City and Washington, the U.S. capital being the fourth most important U.S. market for the Central American nation.
This new East Coast destination joins Copa’s U.S. offerings to Tampa (TPA), Miami (MIA), Orlando (MCO), Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), New York (JFK), Denver (DEN), Washington – Dulles (IAD), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL).
