Aeromexico suspends flights to Chile

Aeromexico will temporarily suspend its flights between Santiago (SCL), Chile, and Mexico City (MEX) from March 24, 2023, resuming operations in the southern hemisphere summer season.

The company has operated interruptedly in Chile for decades, but, according to the company’s sales channels on its website and travel agencies, the route becomes stationary, alluding to a lack of performance during the low season.

Aviacionline contacted the company yesterday for a statement, but at the time of this publication we had no response.

Aeromexico resumed flights to Santiago in December 2021, and gradually increased its operations to five weekly flights on Boeing 787-8 aircraft with capacity for 243 passengers.

According to information obtained through Chile’s Civil Aeronautics Board (JAC), between January and October 2022, the company transported 90,385 passengers, representing a 76% recovery compared to the same period in 2019.

Aeromexico’s suspension leaves LATAM as the only operator on the Santiago – Mexico route, with seven weekly flights. Also, the South American company connects Santiago with Cancun (CUN) twice a week.
