Flights to Cuba: Iberojet opened its route to Santiago de Cuba (SCU)

On November 11 Iberojet landed in its third destination in Cuba with a new service between Madrid (MAD) and Santiago de Cuba (SCU). The leisure airline will be the only Spanish airline to offer non-stop services in this segment.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, 7,846 passengers and 21.4 tons of cargo were moved between the Spanish capital and Santiago de Cuba. Currently, Cubana de Aviación and Iberojet are operating in this market and between them they will have an offer of 1,025 weekly seats.

Flight EVE 827 is operated in an Airbus A330 registered with registration EC-MII, which took off from Adolfo Suareź International Airport (MAD) at 16:47 local time bound for Antonio Maceo y Grajales International Airport (SCU). Iberojet will be the only foreign airline to offer long-haul services in Santiago de Cuba (SCU).

Flight Itinerary

  • Madrid – Santiago de Cuba Flight EVE 827 MAD 16:30 – SCU 20:50 Friday.
  • Santiago de Cuba – Madrid Flight EVE 828 SCU 22:50 – MAD 13:35+1 Friday.

The route will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 388 passengers in single configuration and promotional fares are available from EUR 267 each way. This service will operate throughout the year.

In addition to this new service, Iberojet in Cuba offers non-stop flights between Madrid (MAD) and Havana (HAV) with a weekly frequency; Varadero (VRA) is served from Lisbon (LIS) during the summer season.

Prior to the pandemic, Cuba was one of the Spanish capital’s most important intercontinental markets: according to data compiled by Aena Estadísticas mobilized 541,767 passengers and 5,636.7 tons of cargo in 2019 between Madrid (MAD) and Cuba in 1,971 operations.

Iberojet’s intercontinental network from Adolfo Suarez International Airport (MAD) for this northern winter season will comprise Cancun (CUN), Havana (HAV), Punta Cana (PUJ), San Jose de Costa Rica (SJO), San Jose del Cabo (SJD), Santiago de Cuba (SCU) and Tegucigalpa/Palmerola (XPL).
