Delta moved its Chicago O’Hare operations to Terminal 5

-

Last Wednesday, October 12, Delta moved its operations at Chicago-O’Hare International Airport (ORD) from its former Terminal 2 location to the newly renovated gates of Terminal 5.

The Atlanta-based airline invested USD 50 million in upgrading Terminal 5, which comes equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools to streamline check-in, a dazzling new 22,000-square-foot Delta Sky Premium lounge.

«Delta’s move is the next big step in the $1 billion expansion and renovation project nearing completion at Terminal 5, where we have already opened seven new permanent gates since June,» said Jamie L. Rhee, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation.

«In the coming months, we expect to open additional building elements and passenger services that will transform Terminal 5 into a state-of-the-art facility that will serve a mix of domestic and international passengers.»

By relocating all its services to Terminal 5, Delta will now be conveniently located in the same terminal as its Skyteam and joint venture partners. International customers will no longer need to move to another terminal and re-enter security checkpoints when flying through Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

Signage and airline personnel will be posted in Terminal 2 to direct Delta’s scheduled travelers to the company’s new Chicago O’Hare (ORD) location that can be accessed from the Main Terminal complex by taking a short ride on the newly renovated Airport Transit System (ATS).

New Delta Sky Club in Chicago

The new Delta Sky Club is four times the size of the previous Terminal 2 lounge, which includes seating for nearly 400 guests and will be located between gates M11 and M14. The club’s modern décor styles incorporate wrap-around columns, unique lighting fixtures, stone countertops, and custom furniture.

Lounge guests can enjoy two buffets that include charcuterie, salads, fresh sandwiches, hot food and vegetarian options. The full-service bar offers a selection of premium wines, beers, spirits and cocktails at the Delta Sky Club.

«Chicago is a global city that connects travelers to destinations around the world, and we wanted to elevate our presence here to give our customers the premium experience they deserve,» said Claude Roussel, general manager of Delta Sky Club.
