On the night of October 27, an American Airlines Boeing 777 that had taken off from Ezeiza airport bound for Miami had to declare an emergency and return to Ministro Pistarini, landing on runway 11 at 22:45 local time.
According to certain sources, the plane had released debris on contact with runway 11, which forced the closure of runways 11/29 and 17/35 for a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) check. Shortly thereafter, runway 17/35 was reopened.
ADS-B tracking systems show that the aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 3200 feet (1060 meters) before declaring emergency and returning to the home airport.
The aircraft involved is a Boeing 777-223 (ER), with registration number N765AN and serial number 32879, delivered to American Airlines in May 2003.
Although initial reports speak of a Compressor Stall, this information could not be confirmed. Currently, there are no reports of injuries among the crew or passengers.
Through its Twitter account, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) confirmed that it intervened in the incident.
