Air Canada has scheduled two new cross-border services to the United States from Halifax (YHZ) and Vancouver (YVR) this winter: both routes will be available year-round. These flights will increase connectivity and the possibility to connect through the global network of Air Canada and its commercial partner United Airlines.
“With these new Halifax and Vancouver services, Air Canada is responding to demand in these important markets and leveraging its enhanced cross-border partnership with United Airlines to consolidate its preferred market position in Canada and the United States,” said Mark Galardo, senior vice president – Network Planning and Revenue Management, Air Canada.
Including the two new services, the 2023 summer schedule on the Canadian airline’s cross-border network will have increased 6% compared to 2019 levels. The company currently flies into 47 airports in the U.S. from its main hubs and several secondary cities in Canada.
Halifax (YHZ) – Newark (EWR)
This new service between Halifax (YHZ) and Newark (EWR) begins December 16, 2022, and will operate daily. This route will offer Atlantic Canada travelers more options to fly to the United States where they can connect through United’s extensive domestic network at EWR.
Flight Itinerary
- Halifax – Newark Flight AC 8670 YHZ 11:54 – EWR 13:04 daily flights.
- Newark – Halifax Flight AC 8669 EWR 13:45 – YHZ 16:35 daily flights.
The route will be operated by Air Canada Express on De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft with a capacity of 78 seats in a single configuration. From Newark (EWR), the Canadian airline offers five other non-stop services: Toronto (YYZ), Montreal (YUL), Calgary (YYC), Vancouver (YVR) and Ottawa (YOW).
Vancouver (YVR) – Houston (IAH)
The new route between Vancouver (YVR) and Houston (IAH) will begin on December 16, 2022, and will offer daily flights.
Flight Itinerary
- Vancouver – Houston Flight AC 1300 YVR 08:45 – IAH 15:08 daily flights.
- Houston – Vancouver Flight AC 1301 IAH 16:30 – YVR 19:15 daily flights.
This service will be operated with Airbus A220-300 aircraft with a capacity of 137 seats in two classes (12 Business Class/125 Economy). The carrier offers two additional routes from Houston (IAH): Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL).
