Aeromexico resumed flights to Cuba

This Sunday (30), Aeromexico resumed operations to Cuba after more than two and a half years on the Mexico City (MEX) – Havana (HAV) route. This is the company’s second non-stop service in the Caribbean, complementing its daily operations to Santo Domingo (SDQ).

Flight AM 451 was operated in a Boeing 737 registered with registration XA-ADT, which took off from Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) at 09:06 local time and landed at Jose Marti International Airport (HAV) at 12:30, after two hours and ten minutes.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), 468,884 passengers and 765.7 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2019 between Mexico City (MEX) and Havana (HAV) in 3,158 operations. Aeromexico is currently the only legacy operator in the market between Mexico and Cuba.

Flight Itinerary

  • Mexico City – Havana Flight AM 451 MEX 08:40 – HAV 13:30 daily flights.
  • Havana – Mexico City Flight AM 452 HAV 14:45 – MEX 16:00 daily flights.

The route will be operated on Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft with 160 seats (16 Clase Premier/18 Clase AM Plus/126 Clase Turista) and promotional fares are available starting at USD 400 each way. Aeromexico will offer 2,240 seats per week in this segment and will have a 46.25% share of this market.

According to data compiled by AFAC, Cuba is Mexico’s main Caribbean market, with 127,453 passengers in 1,338 operations between January and September 2022.

  • Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ): daily flights on Embraer 190.
  • Havana, Cuba (HAV): daily flights on Boeing 737-800 Next Generation.

  1. Me parece que la reanudación se realiza TARDE, cuando otras aerolíneas mexicanas lo hicieron hace ya bastante tiempo y desde varias ciudades del Sureste, así como de la CDMX, y con tarifas regulares por debajo de los promocionales 400 USD. Ojalá y opere con resultados positivos!!
