Tropic Air to operate flights between Belize and San Pedro Sula

-

Tropic Air announced that it will connect Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City and Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The new route will begin on November 15, 2022, and will initially operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The service will be operated in its 9-passenger Cessna Caravan: the aircraft has a state-of-the-art Garmin 1000-equipped cabin with radar, GPS navigation and terrain mapping, in addition to the comfort of air-conditioning.

San Pedro Sula will be the company’s second destination in Honduras, as it also operates to Roatán (RTB), with four weekly flights also with Cessna Caravans.

According to the company, this new flight is a direct response to customer requests after launching last February its direct connection to San Salvador (SAL) -which was recently increased from 3 to 4 weekly flights- in 19-passenger Beechcraft 1900D aircraft.

«When we inaugurated our service to San Salvador, we promised to continue to evaluate important regional destinations with a view to growing our international network. We believe the time is right to add San Pedro Sula,» said John Greif III, president of Tropic Air.

It is also the fourth international destination to be launched by the company: in addition to El Salvador and Honduras, it operates a daily flight to Cancun (CUN), Mexico, on Beechcraft and Caravan aircraft.

«We continually seek new and innovative routes that promote tourism, business, travel and cargo within our region,» said Steve Schulte, chief executive officer.

«This flight also enhances Belize’s connectivity with Latin markets and provides visitors with another convenient way to reach Belize,» Schulte concluded.

Tropic Air is Belize’s largest airline with a fleet of 14 Cessna Caravans, two Cessna 182Ts and one Beechcraft 1900D, operating more than 200 daily flights, primarily connecting 8 domestic cities on 15 routes. The company is widely used by foreign tourists seeking to reach the most remote areas and islands of the country.
