#TBT: Flota Aérea Mercante Argentina (FAMA) flights to the United States and Europe from Buenos Aires in 1950

Flota Aérea Mercante Argentina, also known as FAMA, was a Buenos Aires-based airline founded in 1946. The company’s fleet consisted of Shorts S.25 Sandringham, Avro 691, Douglas DC-4, Douglas DC-5, Douglas DC-6, Convair CV-240, Vickers VC.1-615 Viking 1B and Bristol 170 Mk.1A Freighter.

FAMA’s main destinations were Havana, Lisbon, London, Madrid, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Santiago de Chile and Sao Paulo.

In the mid 1950’s, the Argentine airline operated to Europe and the United States from Buenos Aires with intermediate stopovers. Both routes were performed by Douglas DC-6 on a weekly basis.
