Southwest Airlines increases its presence in Costa Rica with new nonstop service between Denver (DEN) and San Jose (SJO) with a weekly flight beginning March 11, 2023. This is the carrier’s third route from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) complementing its services from Baltimore (BWI) and Houston – Hobby (HOU).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), Southwest mobilized 343,623 passengers between the United States and Costa Rica, the fourth largest U.S. operator in the Central American country.
For this 2022/2023 boreal winter season, the Dallas-based airline will offer non-stop service from Baltimore (BWI), Houston – Hobby (HOU) and Denver (DEN) to San José (SJO) and Liberia – Guanacaste (LIR).
Flight Itinerary
- Denver – San José Flight WN 710 DEN 07:00 – SJO 13:10 Saturday.
- San José – Denver Flight WN 707 SJO 12:30 – DEN 18:10 Saturday.
The route will be operated in Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with 175 seats in single configuration and promotional fares are available from USD 517 each way, and passengers can also enjoy Wi-Fi service on board.
Southwest’s current international offerings at Denver (DEN) include service to Liberia – Guanacaste (LIR) in Costa Rica, Belize (BZE) and four destinations in Mexico: Cancun (CUN), Cozumel (CZM), Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and Los Cabos (SJD).
The U.S. airline currently published its largest March schedule in Denver (DEN) starting in 2023, with up to 270 departures per day, an increase of 27 flights compared to the schedule published in February of the same year.
