For the 2022/2023 northern winter season, KLM will offer a network of 163 destinations: 92 European and 71 intercontinental. The airline plans to add new short/medium haul services and will offer more capacity in North America, surpassing 2019 levels.
Europe
KLM from October 29 will serve three new routes to Nantes (NTE) with two daily flights; Katowice (KTW) and Aarhus (AAR) both will operate daily. The airline is also adding a new snow destination to Rovaniemi, Finland (RVN) with a weekly frequency from December 3 through March 25, 2023.
The Amsterdam-based airline will expand services to Teesside (MME), Humberside (HUY), Cardiff (CWL), Southampton (SOU) and Graz (GRZ). It will also extend the schedule to Naples (NAP) and Split (SPU), both seasonal summer routes, will be available this winter with daily flights.
North America
KLM will offer 19 nonstop services in North America (United States, Canada and Mexico) this winter, representing an 11% increase compared to the same winter season in 2019.
The route to Los Angeles (LAX) will have 10 flights a week, compared to last winter when it operated daily flights. Service to Austin, Texas (AUS) that launched this summer will be available year-round. In addition, the airline is bringing back seasonal operation to Cancun (CUN), this destination was introduced in 2021.
This winter several of the routes to the United States and Canada will be available with the new Premium Comfort Class product that will be installed initially on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. World Business Class and Economy Class will complement this new cabin.
Caribbean and Suriname
The carrier from the Netherlands Antilles will increase capacity in this market by 20% compared to 2019. The route to Curaçao (CUR) will have 10 flights a week and for the Christmas season there will be two daily flights. Daily services to Aruba (AUA), combined with Bonaire (BON) will be operated on the largest aircraft in KLM’s fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER (408 seats).
The two new destinations introduced in 2021 to Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI) and Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (POS) will also return. The route to Paramaribo (PBM) will have five flights a week operated on Boeing 777-300ERs.
South America
In South America, KLM will increase seat supply by 6% compared to winter 2021. The airline will provide daily services from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru and Colombia. Costa Rica, on the other hand, will have four weekly flights.
Africa
The airline is adding a night service with three weekly flights on the route to Cape Town (CPT), complementing its current daily daytime flights. Service to Zanzibar (ZNZ) will be available this winter via Dar es Salaam (DAR).
Services to Nairobi (NBO) and Dar es Salaam (DAR) will offer the new Premium Comfort Class product available on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Asia
Seat capacity in the Asian market is up 50% over last year, thanks to the opening of borders to several Southeast Asian destinations.
For the winter schedule, flights to Tokyo Narita (NRT) will return to non-stop operation, however this service will continue to avoid Russian airspace.
The route to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) will no longer be operated via Singapore (SIN) and the connection between Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia (CGK) will return. Services to Bangalore (BLR) will be available throughout the year.
Flights to Mainland China will remain limited due to health restrictions. KLM will fly to Shanghai/Hangzhou three times a week with a technical stopover in Seoul – Incheon (ICN).
