Bombardier opens a service center in Australia

-

Bombardier opened its new service center in Melbourne, Australia, seeking to increase its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. It will provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the manufacturer’s aircraft.

The new facility is located at Essendon Fields Airport in Melbourne, Australia. In total, the plant’s floor space is around 50,000 square feet (4,500 square meters). At full capacity, it will provide 65 direct jobs. Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President, and CEO said that «the addition of this service center to our network is the latest in a series of global infrastructure investments with which we will enhance our customer service capabilities, in line with our 2025 plan.»

The Canadian manufacturer opened a service center in Singapore earlier this year. In addition, it expects to complete expansion work on its MRO plant in London soon. Finally, before the end of the year, it should put its new facilities at Miami’s Opa Locka Executive Airport into operation. «In the last year we have added close to a million square feet of capacity in several key locations,» Martel noted.

Brendan Pihan, CEO of Essendon Fields, closed by noting that «partnering with one of the world’s leading business jet manufacturers is a testament to our continued investment. There are more business jets based here than anywhere else in the country. It’s clear: Essendon Fields is firmly established as the home of business jets in Australia.»

The Bombardier Melbourne center will provide a number of services, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications and upgrades, and avionics installation. It will be able to work on all of the company’s aircraft, including the recently introduced Global 8000.
