This Tuesday (13), Austrian Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A320neo: in the coming weeks the company’s technicians will prepare this new aircraft for its entry into commercial service.
The Airbus A320neo registered OE-LZN took off from Toulouse – Blagnac Airport (TLS) at 16:12 local time and landed at the airline’s main hub at Vienna International Airport (VIE) at 18:19, this new aircraft will have a capacity of 180 seats.
The Austrian company expects to take delivery of another three units of this model by spring 2022, part of Austrian’s short/medium haul fleet renewal where they will replace the older Airbus A320ceo. This is the first factory-new narrowbody aircraft the company has received in more than 20 years.
Lufthansa Group continues to renew its fleet across all its airlines, and in previous years the group has placed several orders for more than 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft to be distributed among the airlines. This new generation of aircraft is more fuel efficient, quieter, and more environmentally friendly, according to the company.
The German group currently owns 39 Airbus A320neo aircraft, which are distributed as follows: 30 from Lufthansa, six from SWISS, two from Eurowings and one from Austrian.
In the coming years, Lufthansa Airlines will receive these Airbus A320neo aircraft: 39 from Lufthansa, 11 from SWISS, 3 from Austrian, 3 from Brussels Airlines and 6 from Eurowings.
