Delta resumes flights between Los Angeles and Tokyo Haneda; new service to Honolulu launched

Delta Air Lines will resume operations between Los Angeles (LAX) and Tokyo Haneda (HND) as of October 30, in addition to a new service to Honolulu (HNL) that will begin on December 1. The start of this route was delayed because of the pandemic, thanks to the easing of health restrictions in Japan, the airline increases its offer in the Japanese capital.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the Atlanta-based airline will have an offer of 19,460 seats per week in 70 air operations between the United States and Tokyo Haneda (HND) as of December, making it the American airline with the largest capacity in Japan’s main airport.

Flight schedule between Tokyo (HND) and Honolulu (HNL)

This is a new service of the carrier, prior to the pandemic the route between Tokyo and Honolulu (HNL) was served from Narita Airport (NRT).

Flight schedule from December 1, 2022 to March 24, 2023
  • Flight DL 180 HNL 13:30 – HND 18:00+1 flights daily.
  • Flight DL 181 HND 21:00 – HNL 09:00 daily flights.

The route will be operated by Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 216 seats (26 Delta One/18 Delta Premium Select/ 21 Delta Comfort +/151 Main Cabin).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Department of Transportation (DoT), between Tokyo and Honolulu 2,094,089 passengers were mobilized, the largest market between the United States and Japan.

Flight Schedule between Haneda (HND) and Los Angeles (LAX)

Between October 30 and November 28, Delta will offer three flights per week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) on this route and from December 1 will increase this service to daily flights.

Flight Itinerary
  • Flight DL 7 LAX 09:45 – HND 15:10+1 flights daily.
  • Flight DL 8 HND 16:50 – LAX 10:00 daily flights.

The route will be operated on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft with 281-seat capacity (29 Delta One Suites/28 Delta Premium Select/56 Delta Comfort+/ 168 Main Cabin).

«As travel restrictions gradually ease in Japan, we decided to restart service from Los Angeles and Honolulu and increase the frequency of flights currently operating flights to Haneda,» said Victor Osumi, Delta’s general manager in Japan.

«Our commitment to the health and safety of everyone on board always comes first, and customers will enjoy more options to Haneda, with Delta’s unmatched travel experience on the ground and in the air» added Osumi.

Subject to change due to the changing nature of COVID-19, customer demand and government travel regulations.

  • Atlanta (ATL) daily flights on Airbus A350-900.
  • Detroit (DTW) daily flights on Airbus A350-900.
  • Seattle – Tacoma (SEA) daily flights on Airbus A330-900neo.
  • Los Angeles (LAX) daily flights on Airbus A330-900neo.
  • Honolulu (HNL) daily flights on Boeing 767-300ER.

Services from Tokyo (HND) to Minneapolis (MSP) and Portland (PDX) have been rescheduled to begin for the start of the 2023 summer season. The airline recently opened its new Delta Sky Club at Haneda Airport for an enhanced travel experience for its corporate customers.
