American Airlines returned its operations between Miami (MIA) and Managua (MGA) with daily flights after more than two years. The Dallas-based airline is the first U.S. carrier to resume non-stop services to Nicaragua after the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis: the last operation on this route by the company was completed on March 26, 2020.
The company’s Latin American network will offer up to two hundred daily flights to 54 destinations for the northern winter season. The Nicaraguan capital is the tenth destination offered by the company in Central America from Miami (MIA), complemented by routes to: Belize (BZE), Guatemala (GUA), Liberia (LIR), Panama – Tocumen (PTY), Roatán (RTB), San Salvador (SAL), San Pedro Sula (SAP), San José (SJO) and Tegucigalpa (XPL).
«With our long-awaited return to Nicaragua, we at American complete our network in Latin America, further strengthening our presence in the region as the largest North American airline,» said Jose A. Freig, Vice President of International for American.
«American plays a critical role in connecting Latin America to the world, so we are very proud to resume our flights to Managua in November,» added Freig.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, by December American Airlines will offer 282,584 seats per month on 1,665 flights between the United States and Central America.
Flight Itinerary
- Miami – Managua Flight AA 2243 MIA 10:25 – MGA 12:18 daily flights.
- Managua – Miami Flight AA 928 MGA 13:20 – MIA 16:55 daily flights.
The route will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 160 passengers (16 Business Class/24 Main Cabin Extra/132 Economy) and will offer 2,240 seats per week.
