Delta Air Lines resumes flights between Detroit and Monterrey

Starting September 6 Delta Air Lines will resume operations between Detroit (DTW) and Monterrey (MTY) with four weekly flights, the company’s third destination in Mexico from Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. This announcement was made through the social network of Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA Aeropuertos.

This service will be operated throughout the year and is in addition to the company’s operations in Cancun (CUN) and Mexico City (MEX). According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the airline will offer 3,960 seats per month between Michigan and Nueva Leon.

Flight Itinerary

  • Detroit – Monterrey Flight DL 1868 DTW 09:48 – MTY 12:28 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Monterrey – Detroit Flight DL 1959 MTY 13:48 – DTW 18:20 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Flights will be operated on Airbus A319 aircraft with 132 seats in three classes (12 First Class/18 Delta Comfort+/102 Economy) and promotional fares start at US$467 each way. The company’s last operation on this route was March 22, 2020.

Data compiled by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) indicates that in 2019 between Monterrey (MTY) and Detroit (DTW) 97,032 passengers were mobilized in 1,325 air operations, it was the fourth busiest international route from General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY).

For the 2022/20233 northern winter season, Delta is adding two more seasonal services to Mexico from Detroit (DTW) including San Jose del Cabo (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) both beginning December 17, plus service to Cancun (CUN) increases to two daily flights. The airline will offer 8,664 seats per week on 54 flights between Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Mexico City.
