Tocumen S.A. announced that it will begin processing passengers and arriving and departing flights through Terminal 2 (T2) as of Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
COPA will be the first airline to operate from the new terminal, although it will maintain its regular movements in Terminal 1.
Subsequently, it will be joined in T2 by KLM operating to Amsterdam (AMS), United to Newark (EWR) and Houston (IAH), and Air France to Paris (CDG).
As a result of the changes, passengers should check with their airline with their corresponding arrival and departure terminal in the country.
The General Manager of Tocumen International Airport S.A., Raffoul Arab, explained that Terminal 2 has comfortable immigration and customs areas that triple the capacity of the current ones in Terminal 1.
“The total opening of Terminal 2 is a coordinated effort with the government institutions operating at the airport, led by President Laurentino Cortizo. It includes the activation of communication systems, immigration, customs, police and sanitary protocols, aircraft services, commercial activity, public parking, and ground connections,” Arab said.
Tocumen mobilized during the first four months of 2022 (January-April) 4,691,680 passengers in 41,568 operations, which represents a recovery of 85.49% compared to the same period of 2019, when 5,487,706 travelers passed through the Panamanian airport.
The United States is its largest market with 936,690 travelers; followed by Colombia with 720,203 passengers and closes the podium Mexico with 402,631 individuals.
