On Thursday (2) at 6:03 a.m. local time, the inaugural ITA Airways flight from Rome landed at Sao Paulo – Guarulhos Airport. The Italian company will fly four times a week on Airbus A330-200s, with a capacity for 250 passengers in two classes.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alitalia operated one daily frequency with the Boeing 777-200(ER) and Boeing 777-300(ER). The company also served Rio de Janeiro, but at present ITA does not plan to start flights to the Brazilian city.
Starting August 4th, ITA Airways will begin operating flights to Sao Paulo on 314-seat Airbus A350-900s. In addition, it will increase to seven weekly flights to and from Rome.
