Copa Airlines inaugurates flights to Santa Marta

This Thursday (28), Copa Airlines inaugurated its flights between Santa Marta (SMR) and Panama (PTY) with three weekly flights, this new service is the company’s 11th destination in Colombia, currently the Panamanian airline is the largest international air operator in this region.

A Boeing 737 registered with registration number HP-1531CMP operated Flight CM 874: the aircraft took off from Tocumen International Airport (PTY) at 11:56 local time and landed at Simón Bolívar Airport (SMR) at 13:29.

Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, said, «Air connectivity is fundamental for the economic development and social progress of Latin American countries, which is why we will continue to grow towards new destinations in our region and collaborate with authorities, businessmen and tourism associations to continue promoting commercial and tourism activities between the different cities we serve.»

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the company will offer 744 seats per week on this route.

  • Panama Tocumen – Santa Marta Flight CM 874 PTY 12:10 – SMR 13:39 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Santa Marta – Panama Tocumen Flight CM 875 SMR 15:26 – PTY 16:54 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Copa Airlines Santa Marta

This service will be available throughout the year and will be operated in Boeing 737-700 aircraft with 124 seats (12 Business Class/112 Economy). This new route has the option of connecting through the more than 70 destinations offered by the company through the «Hub of the Americas».

According to figures obtained through statistics from the Panamanian government, South America is the main market of Tocumen Airport (PTY) where 2,626,767 passengers were mobilized to this region in 2019.

Copa Airlines Schedule in Colombia

According to data obtained through Cirium, the company will have an offer of 47,156 seats per week in 326 air operations to Colombia, the schedule is as follows:

  • San Andres (ADZ) four flights per week.
  • Armenia (AXM) three flights per week.
  • Barranquilla (BAQ) 10 flights per week.
  • Bucaramanga (BGA) two flights per week.
  • Bogotá (BOG) 7 daily flights.
  • Cali (CLO) 4 daily flights.
  • Cartagena (CTG) 18 weekly flights.
  • Cucuta (CUC) four flights per week.
  • Medellín (MDE) 36 flights per week.
  • Pereira (PEI) six flights per week.
  • Santa Marta (SMR) three flights per week.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aerocivil statistics, between January and April 2022, Copa has mobilized 590,626 passengers, representing an increase of more than 150% over the same period last year.
