Today (May 20), Austrian Airlines resumed operations between Vienna (VIE) and Los Angeles (LAX) with five weekly flights, bringing the airline back to the West Coast of the United States. Due to high demand, the Austrian carrier will increase its operations to LAX to six flights per week starting in July.
Flight OS 081 took off from the Austrian capital at 10:06 local time and landed at LAX at 13:06. This service will be seasonal during the summer and will end on October 15.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through Eurostat indicates that in 2019 between Vienna (VIE) and Los Angeles (LAX) 111,709 passengers were mobilized, it was the fifth main route between Austria and North America.

- Vienna – Los Angeles Flight OS 081 VIE 09:55 – LAX 13:25 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (*), Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
- Los Angeles – Vienna Flight OS 082 LAX 15:15 – VIE 11:50+1 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (*), Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
(*) The additional frequency will be available between the beginning of July and the end of September.
The flights will be operated on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with 306 seats in three classes: 38 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy and 244 Economy.

The United States is Austrian’s main intercontinental market.
For the northern summer season, the United States will be the company’s main long-haul market. According to data obtained by Aviacionline via Cirium, Austrian will have an offer of 34 weekly flights and a supply of 9,074 seats per week, representing a 96.75% recovery of its operations to the U.S. from 2019 levels.
«On an intercontinental level, Austrian Airlines’ focus is on the U.S. market, which also plays an important role for Austrian and Viennese tourism. In addition to six weekly frequencies between Vienna and Los Angeles during the summer peak, daily flights to and from Chicago and Washington will be offered. In addition, daily flights to Newark and New York’s JFK Airport will be operated, namely in the morning and afternoon,» Trestl added.
