Arajet agrees with Aerodom to set a permanent base in Santo Domingo

-

During DATE 2022, Arajet and Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM), a subsidiary of VINCI Airports, signed an agreement to set José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of the Americas (AILA-JFPG), located in Santo Domingo, as an operational base.

Thanks to the signed agreement, the AILA-JFPG will serve as ARAJET’s home base. In practice, this means that it will base aircraft and crews, and will serve as a departure point for all its aircraft and return there for overnight stays if the duration of the flight permits.

ARAJET will be the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean, providing non-stop service to more than forty destinations in the United States, Mexico, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, as authorized by the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

It is backed by investors such as Griffin and Bain Capital. It will initially operate from July with five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to Costa Rica, Colombia, Jamaica, and other Caribbean islands.

The low-cost carrier will have 400 jobs by 2022 and over the next five years will reach 4,000 jobs, announced Arajet’s director, Víctor Pacheco.
