airBaltic to hire 120 new pilots

Latvia’s flag carrier, airBaltic, has started the recruitment process for 120 new pilots. According to the company, the call will include both graduates of the company’s Pilot Academy and external candidates.

Applicants must be citizens of a member state of the European Union and hold a valid commercial pilot or airline transport pilot license from the European Union (form 141 of the European Aviation Safety Agency).

In addition, a minimum of three hundred hours of experience in commercial air transport (CAT) operations in aircraft with electronic and computerized flight systems and a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of at least 5.7 tons is required.

The airline currently employs 315 pilots and has already opened the first forty vacancies for commanders and first officers. In total, airBaltic will hire four hundred new employees in different sectors.

Martin Gauss, CEO of the company, said: «While we continue to employ our airBaltic Pilot Academy graduates and rehire former employees, this time our needs for additional staff reach further, meaning that we are looking for external pilots to join our company».

The call takes place against a backdrop of recovering demand for air travel and the aviation market. In that sense, the process carried out by airBaltic aims to bring its resources in line with the capacity planned for the summer of 2023.
