Air Transat inaugurates flights between Quebec City and London

This Wednesday (May 11) Air Transat inaugurated its flights between Quebec (YQB) and London Gatwick (LGW). Flight TS 492 took off from Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) at 23:38 local time and landed the following day in the British capital at 10:36.

Flight Itinerary

  • Flight TS 492 YQB 23:55 – LGW 11:20+1 Wednesday.
  • Flight TS 493 LGW 13:05 – YQB 15:35 Thursday.

«With this new flight to London, Air Transat becomes the only airline to offer our loyal travelers in the Quebec area a second direct connection to Europe, after Paris, making it easier than ever for them to plan their vacation. At the same time, we are delighted to introduce British travelers to the majestic city of Quebec, the region’s exceptional national parks and our gastronomic culture,» said Joseph Adamo, Transat’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

All flights will be operated by modern 199-seat Airbus A321LR single-aisle aircraft (12 Club Class/187 Economy), London is the carrier’s second European destination from Quebec, as well as the only operator to offer non-stop flights between the French-Canadian province and the United Kingdom.

«The people of greater Québec City are clamoring for access to more European destinations. By offering a second direct route to Europe in addition to Paris, Air Transat is responding to that demand. Now that Air Transat has decided to invest in our market, we expect passengers to return throughout the summer, showing the airline that they have done well to put their trust in us,» said Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of Québec Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB).

For the northern summer season, Air Transat will have an offer of 1,194 seats per week and six air operations between Quebec and Europe, it will be the largest airline operator in this segment, from June the service to Paris – Charles de Gaulle (CDG) increases to three flights per week on Airbus A321LR.

With this new service, the popular Canadian leisure airline will increase its presence at London Gatwick (LGW) where it will offer up to three non-stop connections to Canada, including its main hub at Montreal (YUL) and its focus city at Toronto – Pearson (YYZ).

Air Transat’s London Gatwick schedule for the peak season

  • Toronto Pearson (YYZ): twice daily flights on Airbus A330-200 and A321LR with 6,104 seats per week.
  • Montreal (YUL): daily flights on Airbus A321LR with an offer of 2,786 seats per week.
  • Quebec (YQB): one weekly frequency on Airbus A321LR with an offer of 398 seats per week.
