Aeromexico expects to operate around 30 daily flights at AIFA by year-end

Starting in the second half of August, Aeromexico will begin to increase the number of flights it operates at the recently inaugurated Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA), expecting to reach 30 daily operations by the end of October.

This information was released by the airline after industry representatives and Mexican aeronautical authorities held a meeting to define actions to mitigate the saturation of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), which was in the news these days after the incident between two Volaris A320s that could have led to a tragedy.

This will not affect the summer season peak schedule, and Aeromexico acknowledged the «willingness to dialogue with the authorities».

Aeromexico currently operates 14 weekly flights from AIFA: one daily flight to Merida, four weekly flights to Puerto Vallarta and three weekly flights to Villahermosa, which represents a weekly offer of 2,772 seats (versus the 515,000 offered at AICM). With the new flights, details of which will be announced soon, the airline estimates it will offer 1.5 million seats during the coming year.
