Aeroitalia puts its first flights for sale, bases aircraft in Forlì

Aeroitalia, Italy’s newest airline, has put its first regular flights for sale in its website this Tuesday, in the run-up for the first Summer season without huge restrictions on leisure travel since 2019.

The airline, which is the first airline launch in Italy since ITA Airways last October and the first private airline launch since EGO Airways and SkyAlps, has picked as its first base an airport that sees no competition whatsoever: Forlì. The city is the head of the Forlì-Cesena province, in Emilia-Romagna region.

Forlì Airport struggles on holding air services for the city’s location, close to both Bologna and Rimini, both cities counting with low-cost airlines.

For now, Aeroitalia has put for sale flights from Forlì to Alghero, Brindisi, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Lampedusa, Malta, Napoli, Olbia and Trapani.

The flights should start by July 9; website TTG Italia, specialized in the travel industry in Italy, reports that by Aeroitalia’s debut, its fleet will count with two other Boeing 737-800.

Aeroitalia is already operating charter flights with its single 737-800, registered 9H-CRI. According to FlightRadar24 data, the airline has been operating such flights with the two-letter IATA code «AL» and the three-letter ICAO code «AEZ».

TTG Italia reports, furthermore, that the airline also expects to base an aircraft in Foggia, in the Puglia region, another airport that has no flights at the moment, with flights to Catania, Florence and Milan/Malpensa.

Aeroitalia’s introductory fares start at EUR28.62 each way — with hold and cabin baggage both included. As of now, the only differences from each fare bundle are the possibility of changing the tickets and/or refunds.
