Volaris Costa Rica continues to expand its operations in South America, starting June 20, 2022 it will fly between San Jose (SJO) and Bogota (BOG) with three weekly flights.
Flight Itinerary
- San José – Bogotá Flight Q6 – 4106 SJO 09:43 – BOG 12:45 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
- Bogota – San Jose Flight Q6 – 4103 BOG 13:30 – SJO 14:43 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
The flights will be operated in Airbus A319 aircraft with 144 seats in a single configuration. Volaris will be the only low cost airline to connect Costa Rica with South America.
Previously the low cost airline announced its operations to Lima, Peru (LIM) from June 3, with the announcement to the Colombian capital, the company will offer two destinations in South America from Costa Rica, with the aim of strengthening connectivity in the region and strengthen connections between the United States – Central America – South America.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, during the summer season, Volaris Costa Rica will offer six Latin American destinations non-stop from San Jose (SJO) in the following schedule:
- Cancun (CUN) daily flights.
- Mexico City (MEX) six times per week.
- Guatemala City (GUA) 13 times weekly.
- Lima (LIM) three times a week.
- San Salvador (SAL) three times a week.
- Bogota (BOG) three times a week.
Volaris currently offers daily flights to the Colombian capital from Mexico City (MEX) and Cancun (CUN) operated in 186-seat Airbus A320neo, with the new service from Costa Rica the company will offer three non-stop routes to El Dorado Airport (BOG).
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Costa Rican Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) in 2019 between San Jose (SJO) and Bogota (BOG) 222,159 passengers and 1,142.53 tons of cargo were mobilized.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) has reported that for the first quarter of the year most of the South American seat supply is coming from connections from Colombia which contributes 82% and Peru 18%,
According to statistical reports of the ICT in 2021 Costa Rica received 60,221 tourists from South America, the Central American country continues to seek alternatives for greater connection in the region.
