United inaugurates flights between Chicago O’Hare and Zurich

On April 24, United Airlines inaugurates daily nonstop service between Chicago and Zurich (ZRH): Switzerland’s main financial center will be the airline’s 10th European destination from O’Hare International Airport (ORD), as part of the airline’s transatlantic expansion for the summer of 2022.

Flight Itinerary

  • Chicago O’Hare – Zurich Flight UA003 ORD 15:40 – ZRH 07:45+1
  • Zurich – Chicago O’ Hare Flight UA012 ZRH 09:50 – ORD 12:45

Flights will be operated in 167-passenger Boeing 767-300ER High J with 46 Polaris Business Class seats, 22 Premium Plus, 43 Economy Plus and 56 Economy. This new service will be operated year-round.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Eurostat, 214,671 passengers were mobilized between Zurich (ZRH) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) in 2019. United, along with its Star Alliance and Joint Venture partner SWISS, will be the only airlines on this route offering up to three daily flights.

For the 2022 northern summer season, The Chicago-based carrier will offer the most seats and frequencies to Switzerland by operating up to six daily flights from the U.S. United will resume next May its seasonal service from San Francisco (SFO) to Zurich (ZRH).

United’s schedule in Switzerland for the 2022 boreal summer season.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, during the summer of 2022, United will have a 15,288-seat-per-week offering between the U.S. and Switzerland on eighty-four air operations.

From Geneva (GVA)
  • Newark (EWR) daily flights.
  • Washington Dulles (IAD) daily flights.

All operated by Boeing 767-300ER High J.

From Zurich (ZRH)
  • Newark daily flights in Boeing 767-300ER High J.
  • Dulles (IAD) daily flights on Boeing 767-300ER High J.
  • Chicago O’Hare (ORD) daily flights on Boeing 767-300ER High J.
  • San Francisco (SFO) daily flights on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
