Easyfly will have flights to Paipa, Pitalito, La Macarena and Bahía Solano from Medellín

-

Easyfly announced that it will land in Paipa, Pitalito, La Macarena and Bahía Solano with flights from the Olaya Herrera airport (EOH) in Medellín, joining Buenaventura and Tolú, previously announced.

For 14 years Easyfly has had Olaya Herrera airport as its main base, the most strategic point of its direct regional connectivity. According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, it concentrates 15.8% of the company’s operations.

This air terminal facilitates the operation of the fleet of ATR aircraft, of which it currently has five ATR 72-600, eleven ATR 42-600 and two ATR 42-500.

In addition, taking into account the diversity of the country, these aircraft are suitable for any geography and climate to connect to the City of Eternal Spring in a maximum flight time of 50 minutes.

New destinations

Its growth plan includes the addition of new destinations in Colombia, such as those announced in this article:

  • Bahía Solano (BSC): connecting Antioquia with Chocó starting June 1st with a daily flight, it stands out for its attractions for whale watching in the Pacific. The company will have to compete with SATENA, which has five weekly flights.
  • Tolú-Coveñas (TLU): As of June 10, with a daily flight, the paisas will be able to visit the beaches of the Colombian coast, having in one place the possibility of visiting the sea and the Caimanera swamp. The company will have to compete with SATENA, which has four weekly flights.
  • Pitalito (PTX): Antioquians will be able to visit one of the most important archeological sites for Colombians; its close proximity to San Agustín allows them to discover the cultural roots of the country. It begins operations on June 14 with two weekly flights (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

  • Buenaventura (BUN): Starts operations as of June 16 with two weekly flights (Sunday and Thursday), supporting the connection between Antioquia and Valle del Cauca, a key destination for the country’s development as it has main access to the largest and most crucial seaport in the country. The company will have to compete with SATENA, which has two weekly flights.
  • La Macarena (LMC): Starting June 17, with two weekly flights (Mondays and Fridays), passengers will be able to visit one of Colombia’s natural wonders, a destination that stands out for its 5-color river.
  • Paipa: for the first time in history, the department of Boyacá will be connected via air with Antioquía, a charming destination for its diverse towns characterized by colonial architecture and gastronomic magic. Operations will begin in June.

More flights and more passengers

During 2021 Easyfly transported 610,751 passengers at Olaya Herrera airport. The opening of these new routes and frequencies will represent the movement of more than 60,000 passengers per year for the carrier, increasing traffic to and from the airport by 8% annually.

As of June, Olaya Herrera will be connected to 25 destinations: Cali, Montería, Apartadó, Pereira, Armenia, Mompox, Villavicencio, Neiva, Cúcuta, Ibagué, Corozal, Pasto, Popayán, Bucaramanga, Quibdó, Yopal, Florencia, Arauca, Manizales and Valledupar to which Bahía Solano, Tolú, Pitalito, Buenaventura and La Macarena will be added.

“With this ambitious project, Easyfly strengthens the connectivity of this region of the country, as a contribution from the air service, to the development and regional economic growth, as well as to the national GDP estimated by specialists and rating agencies between 5.5 and 6% for this year,” said Alfonso Avila Velandia, president of Easyfly.
