Easter Week: Lufthansa will once again fly Boeing 747-8I and A350 to the Balearic Islands

To meet the demand driven by the Easter holiday, Lufthansa decided to schedule a flight to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) with Boeing 747-8I from Frankfurt (FRA) and another with Airbus A350-900 from Munich (MUC).

The popular Balearic holiday destination will once again be the only European airport to receive Boeing 747 aircraft on an intra-European commercial passenger flight. Lufthansa would have scheduled the same service during the northern summer of 2021.

Both services were scheduled for April 9 only, offering 367 seats for Frankfurt under flight number LH 1158/1159 and 293 seats for Munich under designation LH 1796/1797.

According to the airline’s reservation system, more than 70% of the seats on these flights have been booked.

The Balearic and Canary Islands are experiencing more sustained growth than other European airports. German and British tourism in both regions is a very important part of their respective economies, representing 44% of Spain’s tourist income, according to information obtained through AENA.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, between April 8 and 18,

Ryanair, Eurowings, and Vueling will be the largest operators at the airport with 1,852, 1,013, and 766 flights respectively on the aforementioned dates.
