Norwegian mobilized more than 640,000 passengers in February

Norwegian continues with a significant recovery in recent months, the company mobilized more than 640,000 passengers and the occupancy factor was above 80%.

In February the airline experienced the largest increase in travel bookings since March 2020, before the COVID-19 crisis. Norway and several European nations recently lifted and eased pandemic measures and restrictions, which contributed to the increase in passengers.

«February is traditionally a month with lower travel demand, however, the numbers have remained comparable to January. We are particularly pleased that our aircraft had a load factor of over 81 percent. When the travel restrictions were lifted, we immediately noticed an increased demand for flights. We will have a full summer schedule this year to meet this demand,» said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

Norwegian carried a total of 643,089 passengers in February, compared to 61,374 mobilized in the same month in 2021, this represents an increase of approximately 950%. The occupancy factor was 81.3%. Capacity (ASK) was 1.089 million seat kilometers and actual passenger traffic (RPK) was 885 million seat kilometers.

In February, the Norwegian airline’s fleet consisted of 44 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft and operated 99.8% of its scheduled flights with an on-time performance of 87.8%.

For the 2022 northern summer season, Norwegian plans to operate around 280 routes to 38 destinations and will have the operation of around 70 aircraft. The company has seen a positive increase in bookings for the coming months and is continuously monitoring the situation in Europe ahead of the turbulent financial markets and rising oil prices.
