Lufthansa Group continues to innovate its cabin products across almost all of its long-haul subsidiaries. The company is working together with ZIM Aircraft Seating to prepare a new Premium Economy seat to offer greater comfort and privacy.
Swiss
One of the group’s strongest brands has just launched the new Premium Economy product on the Zurich (ZRH) – Miami (MIA) route operated on a Boeing 777-300ER. It will then be available on all routes operated by this aircraft by the end of May, including several destinations in the United States, South America, and Asia.
The airline will also launch this new product on its entire Airbus A340-300 fleet during 2022 and then on nine Airbus A330-300s.
Austrian
The Vienna-based airline (VIE), will expand the Premium Economy cabin from 18 to 30 seats across its entire Boeing 767-300ER fleet. The first aircraft with OE-LAE registration is already in the conversion process. It is expected to make its first flight to New York (JFK) with the new cabin configuration.
All 767s will be exclusively serving routes to North America for the summer season including destinations to Montreal (YUL) and Washington Dulles (IAD), with all of these aircraft expected to receive the new configuration by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Lufthansa
The leading airline plans to install the new ZIMprivacy seat (PC-02) in Premium Economy Class for its new-generation Airbus A350, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Boeing 777-9, and the company’s flagship Boeing 747-8i aircraft.
Brussels Airlines
The Belgian subsidiary debuted the Premium Economy Class product for the first time in 2019 as part of its plans to upgrade cabins on its fleet of long-haul aircraft and reinforce the airline’s premium offering.
Currently, all Brussels Airlines A330 aircraft are already available with Premium Economy featuring a 2-3-2 seating configuration.
Leisure subsidiaries
The new airline of the Eurowings Discover group offers Premium Economy on several of its aircraft. This is because part of its A330-300 fleet was transferred from Lufthansa and retained some of the seats. Some A330-200s were refurbished and fitted with Premium Economy.
At the moment, Edelweiss is the only airline in the group where its long-haul aircraft do not have the Premium Economy product, the airline only has Economy Plus on its A340-300s.
