JetSMART Argentina to incorporate a sixth Airbus A320

-

At a press conference which took place around midday this Tuesday, JetSMART executives informed regarding the company’s immediate plans in Argentina, which include the incorporation of a sixth Airbus A320, which will have the registration LV-KDP.

This aircraft is currently operating in Chile with registry CC-AWF. They estimate that it will arrive in the country at the end of April to, after completing the nationalization procedures, start operating for JetSMART Argentina as of May the 2nd.

Gonzalo Perez Corral, JetSMART Argentina Country Manager, said that «due to a market issue, this aircraft will be used to add frequencies to the 17 routes we are already operating», highlighting that Mendoza will have two daily flights, but there will also be more flights to Corrientes, Posadas and Neuquén, in addition to interprovincial routes.

«Unfortunately this aircraft is going to be based in Ezeiza. I would have liked to have had the entire operational fleet at a single airport, at its main base,» Perez Corral said. «Having two bases in the same city is not something desirable because of all the operational complications, but in the situation we have today in Argentina, adding an aircraft is positive in spite of that,» he added.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through JetSMART and Cirium’s booking system, the frequency increases would be as follows:

Routes to and from Buenos Aires (AEP or EZE)
  • Cordoba from 9 to 14 weekly flights.
  • Tucumán from 7 to 9 weekly flights.
  • Salta from 10 to 12 weekly flights.
  • El Calafate from 4 to 2 weekly flights.
  • Mendoza from 11 to 14 weekly flights.
  • Jujuy from 3 to 6 weekly flights.
  • Corrientes from 3 to 4 weekly flights.
  • Posadas from 3 to 4 weekly flights.
  • Comodoro Rivadavia from 3 to 5 weekly flights.
  • Ushuaia from 6 to 4 weekly flights.
