ITA Airways inaugurates two new destinations in the U.S.

For the 2022 northern summer season, ITA Airways is expanding its long-haul offering with seven intercontinental destinations, most of them from the United States, Italy’s main international market outside Europe.

The new Italian airline expects the delivery of new Airbus A330neo and A350 aircraft to increase frequencies on existing routes and add new destinations.

New destinations

Miami (MIA)

On March 1, ITA began operations between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Miami (MIA) three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday) on Airbus A330-200 aircraft, where the only carrier offering a non-stop connection between Italy and the state of Florida.

In 2019 the route between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Miami (MIA) moved 161,933 passengers.

Boston (BOS)

On March 2, ITA started operations between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Boston (BOS) twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday) on Airbus A330-200 aircraft, together with alliance partner Delta Airlines, both of which will operate this route during the northern summer.

In 2019 the route between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Boston (BOS) carried 182,916 passengers.

During the months of April and June, the routes from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Miami (MIA) and Boston (BOS) will increase to a 5 times a week operation, then in the period between June and September, it increases again its services to daily flights.

More flights to the Big Apple

As of April 2, the airline starts intercontinental operations from Milan Malpensa (MXP) with its first destination to New York (JFK) with a five-times-weekly operation (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday). The company also offers flights from the Big Apple from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) which started in the winter season 2021/2022.

In 2019 the route between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and New York (JFK) mobilized 875,232 passengers, it is the largest intercontinental service in Italy.

Hello Hollywood! ITA’s first West Coast destination

As of June 1, ITA starts its first destination on the West Coast of the United States, with a new service between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Los Angeles (LAX) with daily services operated on Airbus A330s.

  • Los Angeles (LAX) 15:15 – Rome Fiumicino (FCO) 12:15+1

For the summer season, ITA will be the only operator connecting Italy to the west coast of the United States. In 2019 the route between Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – Los Angeles (LAX) moved 198,762 passengers.
