Volaris to connect Guatemala and Honduras

-

Volaris’s new route: four months after its first flight between Honduras and El Salvador, the Mexican low-cost carrier plans to open a new route to and from Guatemala.

Thanks to the Law for the Promotion of Low-Cost Air Transportation, Volaris began its operations in October 2021 from Villeda Morales International Airport with its direct route to El Salvador.

Now, the airline plans to start flying a direct route between San Pedro Sula and Guatemala as of next April. If there are no major changes or delays, they will have 3 frequencies per week between both airports.

Currently, the company, which has been very well accepted by its customers due to its low fares is starting this new route. It departs from San Salvador to San Pedro Sula on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. While returns are programmed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The company also connects passengers to 3 major U.S. cities through El Salvador. Those are Los Angeles, New York, and Washington.

With the arrival of Volaris, the cost of tickets, which normally were not cheap, have been reduced. Now they will be available at least for this route, from about $148.

During the inaugural flight last October, Enrique Beltranena, founder and CEO of Volaris, said that it has been 4 years of growth to finally get the company to fly to Honduras.

Armando Funes, former president of the Honduran Airline Association, explained that all this is possible thanks to the Law for the Promotion of Low-Cost Air Transportation. Such a law encourages companies to continue growing.

In addition, he said: «Let’s remember that they also connect with Cancun, Los Angeles, Costa Rica via Guatemala. They do so with Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 186 passengers».
