SmartLynx joins as a new Boeing 737 MAX operator

SmartLynx signed an agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital for the lease of 2 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to meet the growing demand of the European and foreign market.

This fruitful partnership between SmartLynx and one of the world’s largest lessors will automatically start aircraft deliveries for the European carrier.

The strategic expansion of the Boeing fleet within SmartLynx allows the company to build a reliable fleet that will ensure greater product and service delivery and improved versatility.

The greater reach generated by having a Boeing 737 MAX 8 opens up new market opportunities for the airline and its customers:

“As SmartLynx Airlines continues to modernize its fleet, there is no doubt that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 is the right aircraft for us, and we are delighted to be working with SMBC to make it happen,” said Zygimantas Surintas, CEO of SmartLynx Airlines.

“These aircraft will not only allow us to expand our services and the markets we can cover, but will also guarantee us, even higher quality service and unmatched technical reliability,” completed Zygimantas.

SMBC Aviation Capital

SMBC Aviation Capital is one of the world’s leading aircraft operating leasing companies. It will also be the first lessor to support SmartLynx with 737 MAX 8 model aircraft.

“We are delighted to sign this agreement with our new client SmartLynx. This deal will support their fleet expansion into the Boeing 737 MAX family,” said SMBC Aviation Capital chief commercial officer Barry Flannery.

“This agreement demonstrates that demand for SMBC Aviation Capital’s new narrowbody units continues to grow and underscores our commitment to support our customers in the adoption of these greener, next-generation, more environmentally friendly aircraft types” completed Barry.

The first two SmartLynx Boeing 737 MAX 8s will join the fleet in April. While more are expected to be added by next European summer. Seeking to ensure successful deliveries, SmartLynx has also established a partnership with the North American manufacturer. This agreement will provide full support during the servicing process with its aircraft.

“We are delighted that SmartLynx Airlines has selected the 737 MAX to diversify and grow its charter fleet. This model will help SmartLynx customers reduce their operating costs by lowering fuel consumption and reducing noise and CO2 emissions”. This was said by Ricardo Cavero, Boeing Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Europe, Israel, and Turkey.

The 737 MAX 8 is the first Boeing aircraft to return to SmartLynx Airlines operations after a 10-year hiatus. In addition, the search for experienced crew members for the new leased aircraft model is already underway.
