During the Singapore Airshow 2022, Boeing and ST Engineering made public their plans to create additional conversion capacity for the 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF). This is to meet growing global demand.
Boeing will add a 767-300 BCF conversion line at ST Engineering’s airframe facility in Guangzhou, China. It should be ready by the second half of the year. It will join the two the manufacturer will open at Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO).
Ted Colbert, President and CEO of Boeing Global Services, said, «Boeing is proud to strengthen our strong relationship with ST Engineering on the 767-300 BCF program. Such one has already converted more than 40 767s». On the other hand, Jeffrey Lam, president of commercial services at ST Engineering, said: «This new line will strongly increase the BCF conversion capacity».
The 767-300BCF has more than 100 orders – between firm orders and options – including orders placed late last year by ATSG, a world leader in cargo leasing, and DHL, which placed its largest 767-300 BCF order to date during the Dubai show.
Boeing forecasts a market for 1,720 aircraft conversions over the next 20 years. According to the manufacturer’s projections, almost a third will be for Asia-Pacific airlines: they will need 505 units by 2040.
