Lufthansa to fly again to Rio de Janeiro with Boeing 747s

Currently, Lufthansa operates three flights per week between Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro on 279-seat Airbus A340-300s. The airline has had this schedule since early January, when it introduced the Airbus A340s on the route to the Brazilian city.

Lufthansa is the only carrier to offer scheduled services between Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro. With the current timetable, the company has 837 weekly seats available on each leg.

Starting February 25th, the German carrier will fly to Rio de Janeiro with the Boeing 747-400(ER), with a capacity for 371 passengers. Lufthansa will carry out these operations until the end of March, when it will stop flying between Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro.

As we reported, the airline will start services between Munich and Rio de Janeiro on Airbus A350-900s. This replacement is to strengthen Lufthansa’s hub at Munich airport.
