Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is celebrating as a major milestone the conversion of the 100th Boeing 767-300 from passenger to freighter. With this, it’s reinforcing its position as a world leader in conversions of this model.
For the company, which has been converting aircraft for more than 40 years, this is proof of its advanced resources. As well as significant pace and expansion capabilities to offer customers around the world the best cargo aircraft solution.
As reported by our partner site Aeroin, the 100th 767-300 freighter was converted at IAI’s cargo conversion facility in Tel Aviv, Israel.
IAI began converting Boeing 767-300s in Israel in 2007. They started in conjunction with M&B Conversions, a joint venture with Mitsui, and received the SCT (Supplemental Type Certificate) in 2009.
Also in 2007, Israel Aerospace Industries decided to open an additional 767-300 conversion plant in Mexico, increasing operations to meet worldwide demand for converted wide-body aircraft.
The Boeing 767-300 freighter offers a competitive and cost-effective solution for customers looking to expand their freighter fleet as air cargo traffic is set to double in the coming decades and e-commerce shows impressive growth.
In addition to converting the 767-300, Israel Aerospace has several conversion lines for other models around the world and is expanding the level of work to meet the ever-increasing customer orders.
In addition, last year IAI announced the opening of new facilities for Boeing 777-300 conversions in Ethiopia, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and China, in collaboration with local companies.
