The Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier, Flair Airlines, entered the Mexican market inaugurating five connections to Los Cabos (SJD) and Cancun (CUN).
Los Cabos will have a weekly flight (on Saturdays) to Abbotsford (YXX), Edmonton (YEG), and Vancouver (YVR). From Cancun, also with a weekly flight (Saturdays), there will be service to Kitchener-Waterloo (YKF) and Ottawa (YOW). All five routes will be operated on Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
Both Mexican destinations are popular among Canadian tourists looking to escape the region’s harsh winter.
“Expanding to Mexico is part of Flair’s exciting growth strategy and we are excited to launch service there. Canadians are tired of ice and snow, and our affordable fares will help make travel possible,” said Garth Lund, Chief Commercial Officer, Flair Airlines.
Los Cabos regained 65% of frequencies to Canada, currently serving Abbotsford (YXX), Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Kelowna (YLW), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR) with Air Canada, Sunwing, Swoop, Westjet and now Flair Airlines.
“We are very pleased to see the growth of interest from Canadian airlines in bringing access from new Canadian cities to Los Cabos,” said Rodrigo Esponda, Director General of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
“We are delighted to welcome Flair Airlines’ new non-stop service to Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico from Vancouver and expect it to be a very popular route with passengers here in BC,” said Russell Atkinson, Director of Air Service Development at Vancouver Airport.
