Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics announced that Copa Airlines has requested permission to land at the Santa Marta International Airport (SMR), in the northeastern part of the country.
Through file number 2022011137, the Panamanian company requested to operate from Panama/Tocumen (PTY) to Santa Marta with up to seven weekly flights. The operations will be carried out in Boeing 737-800 and/or Boeing 737-9 aircraft.
The next public hearing will be held on February 24, where the companies that present themselves will be evaluated.
Copa Airlines flies to 10 Colombian cities: Armenia (AXM), Barranquilla (BAQ), Bogotá (BOG), Bucaramanga (BGA), Cartagena (CTG), Cali (CLO), Cúcuta (CUC), Medellín (MDE), Pereira (PEI) and San Andrés (ADZ); being one of the international airlines with the largest presence in the country. And now to add Santa Marta.
In 2021 it transported 1,210,811 passengers in the 10 airports.
