Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings subsidiary Atlas Air, and Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, announced the expansion of their strategic partnership. It will be adding a new Boeing 747-8 Freighter under a long-term agreement.
In November 2021, in response to trade growth, Cainiao expanded its partnership with Atlas Air. For this purpose, they included daily charter flights operated between China and Latin America, after arranging five Boeing 747-400Fs.
This new expansion between the two companies will increase the fleet to six dedicated aircraft. The new service will become effective in the second quarter of 2022, with the link starting in Hong Kong (HKG) and then heading to Anchorage (ANC), Miami (MIA), Campinas-Viracopos (VCP), and ending in Santiago (SCL).
As previously announced, Atlas ordered the last four production Boeing 747s to capitalize on strong demand and deliver value to its customers. The aircraft provide 20% more payload capacity. And at the same time 16% less fuel burn than the 747-400F.
