Spain-Venezuela flight guide: INAC approves flight frequencies

This week the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) included Spain among the countries with which regular passenger flights can be operated. In view of this, Juan Teixeira, president of the agency, announced that the frequencies between both countries will be distributed as follows:

  • 2 weekly flights for Venezuelan airlines.
  • 3 weekly flights for Spanish airlines.

The operators authorized to operate these flights between Caracas (CCS) and Spain are Conviasa, Iberia, Plus Ultra, and Air Europa and the latter two have already announced their operations to the Venezuelan capital.

Evolution of traffic between Caracas and Madrid

Prior to the pandemic, the Caracas (CCS) – Madrid (MAD) sector was one of the main routes between Spain and Latin America. After the arrival of the COVID-19 crisis, the market dropped to zero until November last year when INAC authorized special flights between both nations.

Spain is the main long-haul destination in Venezuela, so 2022 looks more optimistic for the recovery of passenger and cargo traffic between both nations.

Statistical data of the Caracas – Madrid route in 2019

  • Passengers: 240,255
  • Cargo: 2,971.9 tons of cargo
