Morocco lifts ban on scheduled international flights

Morocco is lifting the ban on international flights after three months of restrictions to contain the Omicron variant, which initially lasted only a few weeks but were gradually extended.

The Moroccan authorities are now preparing to reopen the borders as of February 7, with passengers from certain countries being allowed to enter. However, this is subject to specific sanitary requirements depending on the level of risk.

Firstly, entry will be allowed to those coming from low-risk countries included in the so-called «list A». They must present a complete vaccination certificate and a health affidavit. Upon arrival, their temperature will be checked and there will be random antigen tests. Passengers under 12 years of age are exempt from this. Although those between 6 and 11 years of age must present a PCR test performed at the origin.

«List A» is made up of 83 countries and covers the vast majority of Europe as well as the United States, Canada, and Israel.

Secondly, passengers coming from countries included in«list B», with moderate risk, must present, in addition to the vaccination card and the health affidavit, a PCR test performed within 48 hours prior to arrival. Passengers under 12 years of age are exempted from this. Although those between 6 and 11 years of age must present a PCR test performed at the origin.

List B» is made up of 77 countries, including most from Latin America: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and also European countries such as France, Portugal, Russia, and the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, those coming from countries on the «C list» will not be allowed to enter Morocco or even make connections. This applies to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
